Oakland’s current governing body is a system consisting of five elected officials; one Mayor and four Aldermen who run for office every four years. In addition to these officials, a municipal judge, two attorneys, and several advisory groups help oversee the operation and healthy growth of the community.

The citizens of Oakland also have the opportunity to elect several individuals who serve on the Fayette County seat located in Somerville Tennessee. And finally, our residents elect a handful of men and women who represent Oakland’s constituents and their interests on a state and federal level.
