The Town of Oakland invites applications for temporary employment as the Assistant Director of the Parks & Recreation Department. The selected individual will be a self-starter and energetic. Under the Director of Parks & Recreation, this position assists in providing Parks & Recreation services, programs, and activities to the citizens of Oakland. This may include spring youth sport leagues, events, and Senior Citizen Center programming.
The ability to assist the Director to establish and maintain cooperative relationships with Town Officials and the public, and to promote community interest in parks & recreation activities is essential to this position.
This is a Temporary position with an expected assignment time of 60 to 90 days.
- A Bachelors or Associate degree is desired
- Experience with a Parks & Recreation program or youth sports leagues is also desired.
- Marketing or communication experience desired.
- Strong oral and written communication skills required.
- Knowledge of basic office software.
Applicants must have a valid, current Driver’s License and be able to pas a motor vehicle registration check.
Select candidate will be required to pass a background check, physical, and drug screen.
Position offers flexible hours of between 20 and 40 hours per week. Some night and Saturday hours required.
Hourly wage range is $15.00-16.00 per hour, dependent upon education and experience. Benefits are not available for a temporary position.
